The problems I had with this version
- I can't change display name
After I upgraded, the default name which displayed on my wlm windows was my full name. This is not my display name. I confirmed it by asking my friend who was online. My display name was still Nana. But I didn't see my display name anywhere on my wlm windows. When I went to options and clicked the button to change my name, wlm took me to live profile website. Then I was required to input both first name and last name. But still this isn't the display name that I wanted to change, it was the profile name.
tl;dr - I can't change display name. I can only change profile name.
- Most changes must be done using live website
This means that when I want to change something like what social service I want to link or use with wlm, I need to change through live website. And the website ui is very hard to use in my opinion. It isn't simple and intuitive. I clicked a lot to find where I can change my profile.
- Horrible UI
The new full UI of wlm 2011 is very messy, especially the left panel where the social updates are shown. The left panel shows a lot of update and the layout of the update makes everything hard to understand. I use wlm because I just want to chat with my friends. I don't what to know what is the latest picture my friends use. If I want to know that, then I would just go to my friend facebook page.
It's good that I can find the option to close the left panel and get back what looks like old wlm. But this didn't help improve my opinion about the new UI at all.
The only good thing about wlm2011 is that it links with facebook and I can use facebook chat through it. But facebook isn't that important for me anyway. It didn't help improving my opinion about the new version of wlm.
I the end, I uninstalled wlm2011 after 10 mins of trying to use it and reinstall old version of wlm.
